Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport‎ and the Silver Kris lounge

Arrived at Bangkok's shining temple to international air travel - Suvarnabhumi Airport (pronounced Soo-wanna-phoom). When it comes to size, this airport is huge! Check out this pic. From one side of the terminal building to the other it's a walk of about 1.5km. Cool!

There are a few design flaws, IMHO, but overall it's a pretty good airport for moving through. I do like the big expanse of space when you arrive to check-in for a departing flight.

I went to the pier C Royal Silk lounge once I cleared passport control and had a shower. Then I decided to check out the Singapore Airlines Silver Kris lounge which opened earlier this year (June, I think). Overall? It's a very nice lounge and better than the TG offering, I think.

Food selection was very good and included some yum-cha style treats. They also offered "baby coconut drinks" and ICE-CREAM! Yeah! Haagen Dazs in Belgian Chocolate and Vanilla flavours. There were very few people in the SQ lounge (at the time I was there, only one SQ flight to Tokyo before the lounge closed at 10.30pm) which made it a quiet and spacious haven.

PC situation was good as well. They had wireless plus a couple of nice iMacs - ideal for surfing.

I decided to get a free massage (head, neck & shoulders) at the Royal Silk Spa around 2 hours before boarding. Then I walked the length of the terminal to check out the Qantas/BA business & first class lounges. Nothing special, IMHO. By the time I walked back to pier C it was time to board for my flight home. Always a nice feeling.
